The second game of the last five against a team from the Eastern Conference and the second of the last five that the Avalanche outchanced their opponents. I've said in the past that this Avs team has been getting awfully lucky in terms of their win-loss record and that's still largely true, but if they were playing in the Eastern Conference they would probably have a much better record of out-chancing to go along with it. The Avalanche came to Tampa for their third game in four days with each game in a different city and then they outchance the home team. The story gets even worse when you consider the fact that the Avalanche were hanging back in the third period protecting a lead. Good for the Avs but man, oh man, the East is bad.

Craig Anderson came through with the shutout this evening but I noticed another rebound like the one that allowed the tying goal against Minnesota. The opposing forward rips down the wing and puts it on net low. Anderson kicks the rebound into the high slot and the opposing team gets a nice chance. That's definitely a play he'll want to work on because if I'm noticing it, I'm sure other NHL teams are too and it's a weakness they're going to try to exploit.

The funniest part of the game was the terrible too-man-men on the ice call against the Avs. Kyle Qunicey gets plastered into the bench while another Avalanche player is changing. The linesman sees Quincey and another player hop on and calls too-many-men. Unless I'm missing something the Avs never at any time in the sequence had six guys on the ice. Just brutal. Fortunately the Avs penalty killing was again brilliant, so it didn't cost them a thing.
