Getting back on the horse today and logging a game that took place in November. A long way back before this data becomes current again, but hey, we've got to start somewhere. This was an interesting game because the Avalanche actually played really well through two periods but then got absolutely shelled in the third.

The power play also really cost them, as they generated only one chance in almost seven minutes of power play time. The chance was a goal, which always helps, but it doesn't change the fact that the Avalanche power play is still struggling. The Wild, meanwhile, generated four chances and two goals in about five minutes which is a much better clip. The Avs have lost both games to the Wild this year and I think it's fair to say that in both cases, special teams were the primary factor.

David Koci took another really stupid penalty (shocking!) and was very high event at even strength with five chances (2 for his team and 3 for the Wild) in under 2:00 of ice time. This guy really needs to get taken out of the lineup. I harp and harp but a minor penalty per game from a guy playing at most 5:00 a night is just plain awful.
